Qu’est-ce que la fin des années soixante et le début des années soixante et dix ont en commun, les séries policières et d’espionnage qui ont embellies la vie de milliers de gens sur l’écran en noir et blanc autant que celui de couleur. Je vous parle ici d’un personnage tr`s important dans le monde de la télévision ainsi que le monde cinématographique de notre ère. Je vous parle bien sûr de l’acteur Peter Graves!

Né le 18 mars 1926 à Minneapolis au Minnesota Peter Aurness le fils d’un homme d’affaire du nom de Cirkler Aurness et d’une mère journaliste du nom de Ruth Duesler les deux de nationalité Norvégienne et Allemande. Le nom original du père s’épelait Aursnes mais fut modifié en Aurness pour y faciliter la prononciation. Graves commença une vie normale comme tout les Américains de l’époque graduant de l’école secondaire Southwest High School en 1944 et rejoignit l’armée de l’air vers la fin de la deuxième guerre mondiale. Après la guerre il s’inscrira à l’université du Minnesota pour parfaire ses études.

Son entrée pour la première fois sur les plateaux de télévision furent dans le rôle titre de Christopher Cobb pour 34 épisodes de la série Wiplash qui est l`histoire d’un américain qui arrive en Australie en 1850 pour s’installer. Il jouera aussi dans d’autres s/ries comme Court martial, Alfred Hitchcock Présente et Route 66. L’année 1967 il est recrute par les studios Desilu et devient l’acteur principal de la série Mission Impossible pendant 6 saisons qui le fera connaitre dans le monde entier comme Jim Phelps le chef incontesté de la “Impossible Missions Force” . Il aura dans sa carrière participe a plus de 70 séries télévisées et films. La série Mission Impossible reviendra en 1988 ou Peter fut le seul membre original de la première série a être présent. Cela dura deux saisons.

IL fera des films pilotes de Mission Impossible intitulees”Call to Danger”, “The Complete Mission:Impossible Dossier deuxième version en film et une troisième “After Mission” en 1973. Il  dans lels années 80s de plusieurs séries et productions comme la série “Masquerade” . Les années 90 arrivent et il aura la chance d’animé la série ”Biographie” sur le canal A&E, il fera plusieurs films sur ”Mystery of Science Theatre 3000 qui présentera dans le cadre de la biographie de Peter Graves ses meilleures farces au travers de tout les films qu’il a fait comme SST: Death Flight , IT Conquered the World, Beginning of the End, Parts: The Clonus Horror et la fameuse voix dans Attack of the Eye Creatures, The Film Crew, Michael J. Nelson et MST3K ainsi qu’une parodie de lui dans Men in Black II. En 1996 il y a eu une nouvelle version de Mission Impossible où le caractère de Phelps(joué par Jon Voight) était vu comme un traitre qui avait tué 3 agents du Impossible Mission Force décevra énormément Peter Graves. Plus tard le 30 octobre 2009 Peter Graves fut honoré avec son étoile sur le Hollywood Walk of fame. Plus tard il fera de la publicité pour la compagnie Air Tran Airways et pour le groupe American Advisors Group(AAG) dans des commerciaux nationaux N’oublions pas les deux nouvelles version de Paramount de Mission Impossible avec en vedette Tom Cruise.

Peter Graves était un croyant de la religion chrétienne, il était marié à Joan Endress depuis 1950, dans ce mariage il eut 3 filles: Kelly Jean, Claudia King et Amanda Lee en plus de 6 grands-enfants. Subitement Peter Graves fut victime d’une crise de cœur le 14 mars 2010, quatre jours avant son 84th jour d’anniversaire de naissance, il revenait d’un brunch avec sa femme et ses enfants, il tomba à l’extérieur de la maison. Même avec le CPR administré par ses filles il ne ce réveillera jamais. Mes sincères condoléances à toute la famille et au monde entier qui perd un grand acteur, un comédien hors pair et un père de famille extraordinaire!
